Previous long-distance relationship advice.?

Okay, so.


I was with this guy for almost 11 months, we went through it all together. He's cheated on me several times ( well from the times I actually CAUGHT him in the act. ) After spending an amazing summer of 2007 together, his love for astronomy lead him to a school at Florida while I reside in New York. At the time, we promised to make it work. This was near the time where he promised I was the only one for him, and that's where the cheating finally stopped. Previous breakups showed that things got a little rocky at times, but he was always worth it to me. Hopefully, I was worth it to him. He never once cheated on me down there ... You must understand that we are very close at heart, almost best friends. We took each others' virginity. We're almost polar opposites sometimes, but we've made it through a lot together. I would do anything for this man. Well, things changed alot that year and we grew apart. As much as it hurt us, we eventually broke off ... He was home for the summer of 2008. So, we started talking in random spurts throughout the summer, and we even hung out alot too. I was so glad we managed to stay good friends... though, at times you can see that we still long for each other. We've had casual sex as well. He told me that he still cares for me on a deep level. With that great news, he always told me that he bought a house in Florida. ...... I still love this man with all of my heart %26amp; soul, but his feelings have definately died down a little bit. Tomorrow's the last time I get to see him before he leaves for good ... How do I say goodbye to my other, better half? This is hurting me so bad, but I understand how much he loves this school. He's always wanted to go to this school %26amp; I never wanted to hold him back.. With this house purchase I can't even concentrate. How do I say goodbye? Any parting gifts for him?

Wow. Well, I'm sure that since you took each other's virginity, that of course he still has feelings for you. I mean, that kind of thing leaves a lasting impression because it's your first. Can he look you in the eyes and say that he still loves you? That's always a good thing- has he told you he still felt for you over the phone or via computer? That doesn't mean much. Say good-bye like he's a good friend, but don't give him any parting gifts. You can't expect to get as close to him as you were before, and I think it's time that you move on, since he's moved on enough that he's in a different state and bought a house (which symbolizes that he's settling down, and it's not with you). I'm sorry that this is difficult for you, and I wish you the best of luck.
