My boyfriend lives just over an hour from me. He works 7 days a week - I work 5 days a week and my dog is home alone most of the day. When I get home, I take her on a walk, swimming in the river, and spend the rest of the night at home - with her. If I leave my house, she's in my car with me. If I go to the store, I take her. If I go to a neighbors, I take her. She's a very happy St. Bernard.
Last weekend, my neighbors watched her for me while I spent the weekend with my boyfriend. This Sunday, I'm going to his town to hang out.
Him and I are in a new relationship so this doesn't happen often. The only time I have left my dog for a weekend was last weekend (and I had my neighbor taking her outside to play and go potty, and feed her).
My best friend told me that I need to take my dog with me because it's sad that I'm leaving her Sunday after leaving her all last weekend. She said I need to make my dog my priority. I feel as if my world revolves around my dog. I don't think there is a huge problem leaving her home all day Sunday if I have someone to take her out.
Am I wrong here???I'm a dog owner in a semi-long distance relationship. Advice on how my dog takes it....?
I think this has to be a choice you makeI'm a dog owner in a semi-long distance relationship. Advice on how my dog takes it....?
No, there is nothing wrong with you having a life with your guy. There should be no problem with someone watching your dog for the weekend. Some times its a good thing for them to make friend with other people. Do not feel bad you are not a bad person.
If you saw your dog as a child you wouldn't feel guilty about using a baby sitter would you?
your dog is fine go have fun.
