Advice on long distance relationships?

there is this guy that i like. a lot. and he seems to like me too. a lot. it all started last summer when we were on the same soccer team, we went to the same school, but never really noticed eachother before that. anyway, in september he moved four states away, becuase of family complications. but we still keep in touch. my friends all tell me that i'm crazy and that i need to move on. but i can't! its not like i'm going around and moping or anything. its just that we talk on the phone about once a week, and we write letters. and i don't date other guys becuase i'm just not interested (especially since the last three guys have been... unique...) but so far it seems to work out great! we're not bf %26amp; gf, we're both free to see other people, but we both dont want to. everybody thinks i'm stupid, but i think what i'm doing is ok. what do you guys think?Advice on long distance relationships?
long distance relationships don't work out most of the time but there are some that do. If you are happy with the way things are going keep doing it and stop listening to your friends there not the ones walking in your shoesAdvice on long distance relationships?
I understand how you feel. I can still remember the sadness I felt when my childhood girlfriend moved away. My heart was crushed and no one in the whole world seemed to understand what I was going through. So believe me when I tell you that I feel your pain. However, there is an old saying, ';Time heels all wounds.'; If my childhood sweetheart had not moved I doubt very seriously we would be together. That is just the way life is. People change. Boyfriends and girlfriends come and go. My advice for you is, that no matter how sad or lonely you may feel right now it is not the end of the world. You are a bright, intelligent young lady and you have your whole life ahead you. It's okay for you and your friend to keep in touch but don't be afraid to go out and date and meet other people. Believe it or not, very few people ever wind up marrying there high school sweetheart. You will be okay. I will be praying for you.
I think what you're doing is fine. I commend you for keeping up a long distance relationship because they are HARD and not a lot of people can do it. I, too, am in a long distance relationship. It was quite difficult at first but after meeting guys in my hometown I'm more convinced that the long distance one is the one for me.

Don't let what others say or think get in the way of your happiness. If you are happy and are fine with not being able to see him often then you have the right to do what you want. Once things settle down and you are older and more capable, you can turn the long distance into a short distance thing. For now just ignore what others have to say. They are just jealous that you have found happiness in something they probably can't maintain.

No mean comments please, thanks!Long distance relationship advice?
The number one rule about long distance relationships is that you must have complete, stable foundations of trust. If you don't trust each other, you will drive each other crazy with paranoid accusations of cheating and constant questioning of your whereabouts.

Other than that, make sure you really want to be together. LDR's are not for people who just started dating or are half-hearted about the relationship. You might be far apart, but the emotional investment is the same, if not more, than when you are physically close. If you guys would rather explore and meet new people, an LDR may not be right for you.

Some great ways to stay in touch are video chatting (download programs like Oovoo (www.oovoo.com) or skype), phone calls, and writing letters (when you're feeling sentimental). And make sure you see each other as often as possible - physical connection is just as important as emotional connection. good luck!Long distance relationship advice?
i personally think they kill people, but if you get to see eachother then it could work out, my bestfriend dated a guy in flordia for 5 months they saw eachother 3 times and they were horrible. she is currentally dating a guy from california who lives on the otherside of the cuntry they have seen eachother 1 time and are doing fine. her mom was dating a guy in georgia and they ended up getting married, it all depends how far away it is, and how trusting you are with him
talk on the phone alot

but dont call him every day

wait for him to call you

and leave cute love messages on his phone

meet up whenever you can

I need advice on long distance relationships.

I met a girl on facebook who i have become really attached to. (And yes i have confirmed that it is a she and that she is real and not some weirdo trying to hook up with random people or whatever people worry about. She is the real deal) Any way, i live in georgia and she is in california. I plan on going to college in caltech, but right now im a junior in highschool and so is she. We have both openly admitted that we like each other but we don't call it a ';relationship'; because we don't see each other. We both talk every day and we talk like we are boyfriend and girlfriend but i don't want to look like an idiot in front of her if i said would you date me long distance. We have so much in common and I really feel strongly about her. What should i say and how can i keep our relationship up till i can actually see her face to face? I have never been in a long distance relationship. Please help with REAL answers and not something like ';haha she a dude'; or something stupid like that cause thats just a waste of time and like i already said, I already know she is who she says she is.I need advice on long distance relationships.
Sorry, I don't think I can help you. It doesn't look like its going to work. She's over there and you're over here. And you've never met her so that's not really dating. And there's a slim chance you're going to keep it up until college. Why don't you keep in touch but you two can decide that like, in 2012, you guys will meet somewhere, someplace?

  • Any advice on making long distance relationships work?

I started college in the fall and my boyfriend and I decided to stay together and try to work it out even though we were going to be far from each other. It does get hard but it is definitely not impossible. I found this website and it has tons of ideas on how to keep things interesting because it can get hard to think of things to say when talking on the phone after a few months. Hope this helps and good luck! =)Any advice on making long distance relationships work?
I have personally been in a long distance relationship with a boy who moved to Tanzania, and unfortunately it failed because I wasn't patient enough. You have to understand that whether it is him moving or you moving that you both have lives to live and that even though you may miss him you can't stay home all night on msn waiting for him to come on.

You need various ways of keeping in contact letters are very personal but if that isn't for you then choose something else.

Phone, texts, internet, buy or use a webcam so that you can see each other daily.

Also set yourselves a time to make contact so that you both know when you will be able to talk to each other.

Bear in mind though that your relationship has to be very strong to withhold an LDR give it a few weeks and test the water if it isn't working out for you it is best to end it than hold on for longer.

I hope this helps!Any advice on making long distance relationships work?
Everyone says they don't work.. and im sorry but to be honest i dont think they do..

i was just in one and well, it was hard coz we only saw eachother like once a week and sometimes it was like once a month and it just got to a point where the relationship didnt go anywhere and i ended it.

but maybe its different for you, just be strong is all i can say really, and look forward to seeing them.. :)
i'm in a long distance relationship and i'm 14, so i don't know how different it will be if your in a different age group to me, but i've been with my boyfriend for half a year and we live 2 hours away from eachother, we stay in contact through phone, texts, and just meeting eachother whenever we can, and if he likes you, it will work because absence makes the heart grow stronger. ...
It's a struggle, but you just hafta keep in touch.

No one can really give you much advice on that subject, other than calling each other every day and arrange visits, where you go see him and vice versa.
    Facebook...Skype...

My partners currently working in Africa, its really hard but talking honestly everyday helps and little surprises help, like letters or flowers. You have to be quite old fashioned to be romantic these days.
you ned to se each other at least once a month for a weekend, i doubt you can last for long without any physical contact

I need advice(long distance relationship) help please?

We've been together a little over 4 years now. And i feel like we're falling apart. I'm 17 hes 18 and we live about 70 miles away from eachother.

This week his cousin from France started living with him and his family. we havent seen eachother in over 3 months cause we've just been packed with things to do. We talk every night and even sleep on the phone every night. And lately he calls me really late.. I AM SO SURE he is not cheating on me. We're not like that at all and we love eachother a lot and plan to get married in about 2-3 years. We were supposed to see eachother this weekend but he cant see me and then I decided well maybe the following weekend but hes going camping with his dad. But i feel like im going insane... Im the kind of person who needs someone to talk to I dont know why but i just am and i need someone to talk to....

but anyways what should i do about this??

How can I cope with this. I feel depressed and if your gonna be mean when you answer this then dont bother i really dont wanna hear it right now im just looking for help on what do do.... thanks :/I need advice(long distance relationship) help please?
It's unfortunate that he had to cancel coming to visit this weekend and that he is busy next weekend. You should let him know in the future how important those weekends are to you (maybe doing so now will just make him feel bad and get defensive, but the next time you plan a weekend try to say things like ';I'm so excited to see this weekend'; ';it really means a lot to me that you're coming to visit';).

I know it seems silly, but pay attention to your menstrual cycle as I've seen that women tend to get more needy around that time. You can even let him know that you're going through this ';needy time.'; If you are aware of your changing emotions, it makes it easier to not freak out until you're sure it isn't related to menstrual cycles or stress at school.

The best remedy, in my opinion, to getting over the feeling of being distant is to take effort to complete little acts of kindness. Find him something on the internet and ship it to his address as a small gift of caring. Send cards or letters to make it seem like he's closer. Having a physical item (not an e-mail) makes it seem like the person is closer.

It's also important to make sure that the weekends he cannot come to see you that you are keeping yourself busy so that you don't dwell on his absence. However, I would also make sure to let him know that you would enjoy sharing your experiences on that weekend with him so that he doesn't get the feeling that you don't need him or want him.

    I hope that helps!

    I need advice...(long-distance relationship)?

i need help. i am currently in love with a guy who lives thousands of miles away from me, but the thing is, i don't even know if we are going out. it's so crazy because i can't go a day without thinking of him. i keep telling myself that i'm already taken by an amazing guy, but i'm not even sure if we are together or not. i can't have crushes on other guys because i love HIM too much. i haven't seen him since the summer of 2007, but i'm seeing him this summer and i need advice on what to say to him because i am so confused about our relationship. he probably doesn't even love me, and i've been worrying about him all the time without even thinking about the consequences. and the thing is, whenever we're together...it's, i don't know. i think we connect on so many levels. but it's difficult because i'm so quiet and shy around him, and he complains about that. he says stuff like, ';why don't you ever talk? you can never strike a conversation up with me'; and it's so frustrating to him, you know. so, yeah. i need advice on how to open up a little bit more once i see him again, and how i could inform him about my confused feelings with our relationship.I need advice...(long-distance relationship)?
He is your friend and the relationship isn't going any further,so find someone locally and forget him.

A long distance relationship... Any advice?

I am from Macedonia and I have been in a relationship for 2.5 years with a boy from my town. However, in September I'll be going to the US to college for 4 years. It is really hard for us both, and we really want to stay together, no matter what. But the visits will be rare, and Internet and skype our only method of communication.

What should I expect? Will it work? How can I make it work? Any advice?

Thanks!A long distance relationship... Any advice?
Four years of college will, as it should, change you into a completely different woman. Unless he attends college also each of you will be on a different path in life. You will also have the opportunity to meet many other men who you may be interested for a relationship. It will be almost impossible to keep the faith and be true to the man who is many miles away. Wanting to stay together at 18-19 sounds good but what about 22-23. Compare: Do you see and think the same way in the 12th grade as you did in the 8th? Let's hope not otherwise there would be no mental advancement in your life.
